Answer: Going viral
Clues: “Circulate” and “Online”
According to a poll, 47% of people say the possibility of becoming “online content” has reduced their ability to “relax and be themselves in public.”
31% say they avoid “showing strong emotions or opinions,” 30% avoid “dancing” and 29% avoid “acting silly or telling jokes.”
Gen Z’ers are most likely to be worried about it, possibly because they’re the most aware of how anything can gain traction on TikTok.
And there are ramifications. The fear of going viral is influencing social participation across generations, with about 20% of people overall admitting they have avoided a social gathering with friends, or bars and nightlife, just because they don’t want “an unwanted viral moment.”
