Answer: Travel

Clues: “Going” and “Places”

In 2025, the average American traveler spent $2,261 on travel. On average, people went on two non-work trips. When it comes to how we got around, road-tripping ruled.

The survey also found we expanded our map, visiting two new states, one new country and snapped an average of 181 photos.

Packing, however, proved to be a recurring challenge. The most forgotten item was a phone charger, followed by sunscreen, headphones, toothbrushes and medication. Even passports and IDs were left behind by 3% of travelers.

Looking ahead, confidence is high that next year will involve even more travel. 66% said they’re very confident they’ll travel more in 2026, with beach getaways and road trips topping bucket lists. They plan to prioritize couples’ trips, friend group trips and budget or all-inclusive beach vacations in the new year.
