A new study found up to 20% of the time we spend on computers is wasted on computer issues. That includes everything from your system locking up, to programs that are just poorly designed and not intuitive enough.
The study involved over 230 workers who spend at least six hours a day on their computer. Each person was asked to report things that slowed them down.
The most common complaints were: Their computer was too slow, the computer or program they were using froze up temporarily, it crashed completely and that aspects of a program were too hard, or too confusing.
Most of the people in the study were either I.T. professionals, or workers deemed to be “highly competent” with computers.
In the end, they found that anywhere between 11% and 20% of our time is wasted by slow-downs and poor design.
