Answer: Thanksgiving

Clues: “Giving” and “Holiday”

A new report found the average American will spend almost $1,000 on Thanksgiving this year. That’s not just on dinner, it includes travel expenses too.

A poll by the banking app Chime claims the average total spent this year will be $952.  Here’s the breakdown:

1.  $293 on travel.  That includes things like gas, plane tickets, and hotels.  If you’re flying with kids, it’s a lot more than that.

2.  $175 on food.  It’s that high because a lot of us do multiple Thanksgivings now.  59% agreed Thanksgiving “day” has turned into Thanksgiving “season.”

3.  $110 on drinks.  Again, it’s not just one Thanksgiving.  30% are having a “Friendsgiving” this year.  Meeting up at a bar can also get expensive quick.

4.  $83 on decorations.  Things like centerpieces and tablecloths.

5.  $291 on other random stuff.  We’ll spend almost $300 on miscellaneous expenses around the Thanksgiving holiday.
