Answer: Behind the wheel

Clues: “Road” and “Steering”

According to a new survey, the average person is willing to drive 172 miles out of their way to pick up a loved one.

That’s roughly a three-hour drive on highways, which is super sweet if you’re picking up a boyfriend or girlfriend, a parent or a best friend.  And it’s downright heroic if you’re trekking out to collect your in-laws.

5% of people would even be willing to drive 700 miles, which is a major trip.  That’s basically the distance between New York City and Chicago.

On average, the farthest people have ever driven to see someone for the holidays is 408 miles.

Overall, drivers are expecting to spend 13 hours behind the wheel this holiday season and 11% of people say they could log over 30 hours in their cars.

57% of Americans are generally okay with that, because they say they “love the sense of adventure that a road trip offers.”
