In a survey, 39% of Americans say they haven’t made a new friend in over a year, and a similar percentage haven’t gone to a party in at least six months.
The numbers are probably even more extreme than that, because this was only a survey of people who say they enjoy traveling with friends.
37% of people say they feel like they’ve “been in a rut” socially and 26% say that their social lives feel repetitive.
Not everyone in the survey could even name a “best friend,” but among the people who do have at least one, the most common number of best friends is two.
