Answer: Valentine’s Day
Clues: “Gift” and “Chocolate”
82% of Americans said they believe that Valentine’s Day is a “trick to make people spend more money.”
About 40% of people admit to having a Valentine’s Day “budget,” and 48% of people would not marry someone with “bad budgeting habits.” In fact, 60% say “irresponsible spending” is a bigger turn-off than bad breath.
27% of Americans don’t expect their Valentine to spend any money on a gift, 26% expect something modest, definitely under $50 and 35% say they’d expect something a little more expensive, between $50 and $100.
And just 12% want their Valentine spending more than $100 on them.
