Answer: Beef
Clues: “Bun” and “Burger”
A new study at Tulane University found 12% of us are consuming half of all the beef eaten in the U.S. on any given day. So, one in eight Americans are serious meat eaters.
Even the researchers were surprised so few people are consuming so much meat. Men and people between the ages of 50 and 65 are most likely to be in that 12%.
It was part of a study on the environmental impacts of meat. They specifically looked at beef because it has the biggest impact on global emissions, up to 10 times more than chicken.
They say if we can figure out how to target that 12% and just get them to eat less meat, it would have a big impact.
If you’re having burgers this Labor Day weekend, try eating yours upside down. The top bun is sturdier, so stuff’s less likely to fall out. Having the toppings and condiments at the bottom exposes your taste buds to more flavors. And, it’s actually easier to pick your burger up.
