Someone analyzed almost two million tweets from around the globe to see which countries swear the most online. And it’s not even close, the U.S. ranks first.
They used a list of 1,600 swear words. So, not just the big ones but a very large vocabulary of cussin’. And overall, 4.2% of America’s posts include at least one dirty word.
4% might not sound like a ton. But second place swears more than 40% less than that. Here are the countries, states, and cities that swear the most:
1. The U.S., then it’s the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
2. The most foul-mouthed state is Maryland. Then Louisiana, Georgia, Virginia, and Ohio.
3. The most foul-mouthed major city is Baltimore. Milwaukee is the 22nd most social media swearing city and Madison, WI is one of the least.
