Someone looked at Google searches in America’s 50 biggest cities to see which ones have the worst cooks.

The results are based on how many people have been googling very basic things, like “How to preheat an oven” and “What’s a whisk?”

Madison, Wisconsin lands in the top 10 on the list of the most clueless cooks are:  Cleveland, Pittsburgh . . . Seattle . . . Madison, Wisconsin. New Orleans clocked in with the lowest number of bad cooks.

They also polled 2,000 people and asked what’s preventing them from becoming a good cook.  The top answers were “not enough time,” and “I’m too lazy.”

A few more stats on America’s cooking skills, or lack thereof:

1.  28% of us are embarrassed by our own cooking, and 33% have been told that something they made wasn’t good.

2.  78% agree the most intimidating meal to make is dinner.  Breakfast and lunch are easier.

3.  The top reasons we don’t cook more are:  No time, the cleanup is a hassle, recipes are too complicated, a lack of experience and 19% said a fear of failure.

4.  75% of people have had a major cooking fail:  74% have burned something, 72% have cut or injured themselves, 54% have severely undercooked a dish, 51% have forgotten a key ingredient, 19% have broken a dish or pan, over 10% have caused a fire and 10% have used spoiled food by mistake.

5.  Last stat:  There’s around a 1 in 6 chance your husband or wife secretly hates your cooking.  31% of married people said their spouse is not a good cook, and over half have kept that opinion to themselves.
